This year, as Ty is now two, we decided to brave the ghosts and ghouls and join the rush of trick-or-treaters. I found an adorable lion costume at Target, but then thought twice and opted for a more practical fireman costume. (He can wear the jacket as a coat, a robe, or perhaps for dress up when he gets a little older!) The costume came with a fleece jacket and matching hat. My mom and I found some cute fireman galoshes/boots (which will also be versatile) to complete his look.
We got a late start since Ty didn't wake from his nap until a little after 6pm. I didn't know if he could be persuaded to keep his hat on, but while we were trick-or-treating he did remarkably well. We began visiting our neighbors and quickly regretted not bringing his new wagon or old stroller because it was slow-going. (It took us an hour and fifteen minutes to visit eight houses!)
See the wreath in this photo? Well, it had small plastic skull lights that played music. We were stuck on their porch for almost ten minutes as Ty listened to the Halloween theme music! When he was finally ready to move on, he turned to walk down the stairs and said, "Bye-bye green lights."

As we were finishing up, it began to sprinkle. But what a perfect Halloween night! Beautiful weather and ideal temperature, especially for all of the skimpy outfits the girls wear! (I told Sylvester we should have dressed Ty as a sumo wrestler this year!)

After we finished trick-or-treating, we went to the grandparents' house. Aunt Az's birthday is on Halloween so Grandma and Grandpa D made some killer gumbo, and we never miss that! Against my better parenting judgement we stayed until after midnight and watched the scary movie The Strangers. My poor little Ty saw his first horror film, bits and pieces of it anyway; we did cover his eyes when the characters were being hacked to death (see, bad, bad parenting).

Erin he makes the cutest little fireman ever! And don't worry about the "bad parenting"...we all do it occasionally! (I'm a yeller, and do it a little too much!) Looks like you guys had a fun halloween!
What an adorable costume. At least with only 8 houses there isn't much candy around for you and Sylvester to be tempted by! Sounds like you had a really fun night and that's the most important thing!
ty looks so cute as a fire fighter!!! he is cute as just ty, too. ;)
