The other day we got a mailer from Toys R Us about a sale they were having. At bedtime, Ty decided that he wanted to look through it to see if there was anything "good." We saw an ad for an
ant farm, and decided to buy it.
We bought the habitat, and learned that you can send away for your ants... we were far too impatient to wait 2-3 weeks for ants to arrive in the mail, so out we went into the great outdoors to find ourselves some ants. Armed with a spoon and a jar, we caught about
30-40 ants and the
queen, and our ant farm had residents!
Ty has loved his ant farm. Every day he wakes up and runs out to see what his ants have accomplished since he last checked. A couple of days ago, he was sitting at our kitchen counter, on a stool no less, completely mesmerized by the ants... to the point that he fell asleep. Great purchase!

Ty is a little science genius. Kids nowadays fall asleep in front of their Nintendo DS's.
Science genius is right! You should probably take that photo down sometime before his PhD dissertation defense. His future adviser may decide to use it as part of a "humorous introduction." Too cute!

I saw this in the ad too and wondered about getting it for Jack. So you think it's worth the money then? Any chance the ants can get out? I think he'd love it too.
